Nike+ pushes the pace of social media

Nike and i-pod are really pushing forward in the race to build meaningful product and social media communities.

Their new combined product Nike+ which has a sensor for your running shoe and a plug in for your i-pod nano is supported by an amazing site.

Nike+ lets you become part of a global community, create a profile complete with mini character, upload your training statistics, track your progress, receive coaching and tips, enter events…

… but perhaps more importantly feel connected to 1,000s of people just like you.

This is one of the rare examples of big corporations really applying the advantages that social media can bring in terms of both product development and building brand loyalty through a genuine and connected relationship with their consumers.

Well done to Nike and i-pod – I want one!
