This past Thursday in Portland, group Y and NEMO put together a panel of social media insiders to speak to the growing phenomenon of the “social web”. At around 1.5 hours long, this discussion is a fantastic beginner’s guide to social media and an interesting discourse on where it is going. Featuring Dave Allen of NEMO, Tony Welch (Web, Community and Social Media Strategy Personal Systems Group at HP), James Todd – Software Engineer for Twine, Matt Savarino (Lead Information Architect at K2 Sports and creator of Ridertech, Lee Crane (action sports online veteran) and Marshall Kirkpatrick (moderator), Vice President of Content Development and Lead Writer at ReadWriteWeb. A big bonus on this one is that there is an action sport connection…rare in this world of geeky social media “experts”.
While the discussion starts slow and one of the guys runs on a bit, the end result is an awesome back-and-forth that is worth the time put in. If you’re in a rush, fast forward to the 23rd minute and skip a bunch of the warm-up.
